Building on a decade of collaborative experience to restore nature
2021 is a symbolic year for nature. It marks the beginning of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, stepped-up negotiations on the eagerly awaited post 2020 global biodiversity framework, and the development of a new EU restoration law. On top of that, HeidelbergCement and BirdLife International celebrate the 10th anniversary of their fruitful collaboration.
When: Wednesday 6 October, 13:00-14:00 CET (Brussels time)
- Patricia Zurita, Chief Executive BirdLife International
- Dr Nicola Kimm, Chief Sustainability Officer at HeidelbergCement
- Martin Harper, Regional Director for BirdLife Europe and Central Asia
- Dr Carolyn Jewell, Biodiversity Senior Manager at HeidelbergCement
Our joint concern is to give back more nature by protecting biodiversity at extraction sites. We would like to share with you what we’ve achieved together, what we’ve learned from each other and what we jointly demand from the new EU restoration law.
The key to halting biodiversity loss is collaboration - across sectors and at all levels of society. Join us for an exciting discussion on the benefits of restoration for both nature and climate, and the contribution the extractive sector can make.
The conference language is English, the participation is free of charge. Recordings will be available afterwards.
