Cursos Transmitting Science - Desconto para Sócios SPECO 2022 - Março e Abril
INTRODUCTION TO 3D MODELLING FOR LIFE AND EARTH SCIENCES (March 14th-28th)
This course is designed as an introduction to organic 3D modelling with the software ZBrush (Pixologic) and is addressed at science researchers, communicators and professionals who want to learn to virtually sculpt 3D models of organic structures and who aim at incorporating computer-generated 3D graphics to their skills and workflow.
Requirements: This course is of intermediate level, elemental knowledge in some form of graphic art (illustration, design, sculpture, computer graphics, etc) is recommended.
Care and Management of Natural History Collections (March 21st-April 1st)
Using a combination of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and readings, this course will teach participants how to better care for and manage all natural history collections (including botany, geosciences, and zoology).
Integration and Modularity with Geometric Morphometrics (19th-22nd)
The aim of this course is to provide participants with an overview of morphometric approaches to studying morphological integration and modularity. The concepts of integration and modularity will be introduced and discussed in different contexts (e.g. development, individual variation, evolutionary change). The theoretical basis and application of different methods for analysing integration and modularity in geometric morphometric data will be presented. Lectures will be combined with hands-on demonstrations of the analyses. Participants are encouraged to bring their own morphometric data for analysis and discussion in the course.
Requirements: Knowledge of Geometric Morphometrics.
